Review of basic mathematical concepts. Sets. Real numbers and their properties, operations with real numbers, exponents and radicals, operations with algebraic expressions, factorials, summation notation. Linear and quadratic equations. The rectangular coordinate system, linear and quadratic functions, their graphs and applications. Some basic geometric shapes, areas and volumes. Collecting data, sampling techniques. Picturing data, pie chart, bar charts and histograms. Average, weighted mean, geometric mean, median and mode. Variance and standard deviation. Some basic probability concepts, random variable, probability distribution. The normal distribution and its applications. Introduction to hypothesis testing, type I and II errors in decision making.
