World Cultures - I (Art/Literature/Philosophy) (HIST303)
This is an interdisciplinary course (because students should examine varied artistic expressions such as paintings, sculptures, architectures, literary works, theatrical pieces, musical compositions and dances) which goes beyond the ritual and aesthetic generalizations, comments and approaches in order to teach the role of Art as stemming from a specific cultural, social, political, religious and economic milieu. The aim of the course is to allow students not to look down upon single works of art but to regard them as the key to a full comprehension of the civilization which had produced them.
