Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) is getting ready to participate in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) event of TEKNOFEST, world’s biggest Aviation, Space and Technology event.
EMU Rector’s Office to Fully Support the Competitors
Team members and supervisors of competing groups who finalized their registrations into the TEKNOFEST TRNC gathered at the EMU Senate Hall upon the call from EMU Rector’s Office to strengthen the support.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu, EMU Technology Competitions and Project Coordinator and Board of Trustees (VYK) Consultant Assoc. Prof. Dr. Davut Solyalı and, EMU Rector’s Office Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Çelik were present during the said meeting.
TEKNOFEST TRNC will be held on 1-4 May 2025 at the Old Terminal Building of Ercan Airport. Registrations for competitions will continue until 30 January 2025.
Organized 10 times since 2018, TEKNOFEST brings its blend of friendly and allied regions, technology competitions, and an unforgettable event experience to the TRNC. As part of TEKNOFEST TRNC, young participants will have the opportunity to bring their dreams to life in seven different technology contests, while the National Technology Initiative’s excitement will reach people of all ages, from 7 to 70, throughout the Eastern Mediterranean.
“TEKNOFEST Technology Competitions will be our Culture”
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Solyalı expressed that students taking part in the TEKNOFEST competitions would acquire valuable experience and expertise across various areas. Furthermore, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Solyalı highlighted that TEKNOFEST would become an integral part of the culture at EMU through its technology contests. Extending his thanks to the students, committed advisors, and stakeholders who would help initiate this process, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Solyalı noted that EMU would offer the ideal environment for this initiative.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Solyalı also encouraged participants to extend their support to teams that have not finalized their registrations, calling for more teams to take part in the experience and contribute to a strong EMU presence.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç shared their excitement and pride in being part of TEKNOFEST, an event symbolizing innovation, creativity, and progress. Prof. Dr. Kılıç stressed that TEKNOFEST goes beyond mere competition, serving as a platform for tackling challenges, overcoming obstacles, and advancing development. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also pointed out that the event offers a crucial environment for presenting innovative talents.
Underscoring that initiatives to be carried out in this field would take the participants a step forward, Prof. Dr. Kılıç highlighted the importance of TEKNOFEST by saying; “There is not a notion called failure. As EMU, we will succeed together”. Prof. Dr. Kılıç also emphasized that EMU is a university that keeps pace with modern developments and mentioned that taking part in TEKNOFEST reflects a mindset of thinking big. Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç concluded his speech by wishing success to the students and faculty members who would represent EMU in the competition.
