Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Engineering, Department of Software Engineering student Alara Ghaffari brought great pride to both the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and EMU by becoming the champion in Top 10 Category of 2025 European Women’s Billiard Championships organized by the European Pocket Billiard Federation between 29 March and 8 April 2025 in Tallinn, Estonia.
The national billiards team arrived back in the TRNC on the evening of Wednesday, 9 April 2025, and received a warm and energetic welcome at Ercan Airport. Along with the staff from the EMU Sports Affairs Directorate, Ghaffari was greeted with banners and flowers by her family, the Cyprus Turkish Billiards Federation Board, and friends.
“Great Source of Pride”
Making remarks on the topic, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç said; “The amazing achievement of our student Alara Ghaffari is a great source of pride for our university and the TRNC. I wholeheartedly extend my congratulations og EMU Billiard Team member Alara, wishing her continuous success in her endeavours”.
