Eastern Mediterranean University Communication and Media Studies Faculty organised Documentary Days under the theme "Migration and Displacement" between 22 and 23 October 2015. Documentary Days finished with a panel and documentary screenings which took place on Friday, 23 October 2015.
On the second day of the festival, a panel entitled “Migration, Collective Memory and Displacement” took place under the moderatorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hanife Aliefendioğlu. The first speaker of the panel Assist. Prof.. Dr. Yaprak Civelek talked about "Life Long Migration and Immigrants: Definitions and Experiences" and the second speaker Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşenur Talat presented information on “Migration from Turkey to Northern Cyprus: Experiences of the 1st Wave Immigrants”.
Participating in the panel from Arel University Sociology Department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yaprak Civelek focused on important issues such as not being able to live at the place of birth, displacement, intention in immigration and potential immigration. Civelek also shared her findings on research conducted on 7321 individuals.
The second speaker of the panel Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşenur Talat shared the findings of her PhD research with the participants. Stating that her research includes detailed interviews on the subject, Talat also shared the experiences of the first wave of immigrants with the participants.
Following the panel, the festival finished with the screening of the director Şenol Çöm’s film 'The migration', director Esra Etiz’s film “Evler Yüzler “FOÇA”, director Gül Muyan’s documentary “Arap Kızı Camdan Bakıyor" and director Güliz Sağlam’s documentary ‘Evden Uzakta/Far away from home” took place.
