Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın released a message about the flash floods and landslide disaster that occurred after the heavy rainfall in the Western Black Sea Region of Turkey. Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated the following in his message:
We have learned with great sadness that 7 districts were seriously affected by the flash flood disaster that took place in Kastamonu, Bartın and Sinop provinces of Turkey due to heavy rain for about two days, and unfortunately, 31 people have perished in this disaster. Many people have also been injured and houses, workplaces and vehicles are seriously damaged. As the Eastern Mediterranean University, we wish God's mercy on those who have lost their lives in this devastating disaster and a speedy recovery to those injured. We convey our deepest sympathies from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to the entire Turkish Nation.
